* Year 5 and EKC volunteers dig for the benefit of the community *
On a rather wet Wednesday, volunteers from East Kent College visited Morehall Primary as part of their Community Day. This day is an important day in the EKC calendar as annually they work with organisations around Folkestone to help develop the well being of the communities they serve.
EKC volunteers worked alongside Year 5 pupils at Morehall to help further the regeneration of the school’s sensory garden. Together they pulled up weeds, created new paths and trimmed back overgrown shrubs – the team even discovered a bug hotel hiding in the undergrowth!
Paul Owen, EKC, Student Assessment and Support Manager said:
We really enjoyed supporting such fantastic pupils and also enjoyed our lunch with the whole school. We look forward to arranging some more community day activities with Morehall and the wider community in the future.

The children loved learning about all of the plants and seeing all of their hard work pay off at the end of the session, with a great improvement made to the garden. They showed excellent perseverance in the wind and mud, and are looking forward to watching the garden develop over the coming months
